École Polytechnique Massacre Memorial and Social, Saturday December 6, 2014, 6:00-8:30 pm

DAWEG Logo Plaque at École Polytechnique commemorating victims of the 1989 massacre for which DAWEG organizes a memorial.    

DAWEG hosted the December 6th Memorial and Holiday Social to mark the 25th anniversary of the 1989 École Polytechnique Massacre.

This event was open to all APEGBC and DAWEG members and their guests, male and female, and was a great evening in which we shared and acknowledged our professional and personal accomplishments.

Held at the Elephant & Castle Pub 385 Burrard Street, Vancouver, the admission of $10-$20 included appetizers and $6 from each registration was donated to the Canadian Engineering Memorial Foundation.

Seminar for Internationally Trained Engineers and Geoscientists: "How to Find and a Job in Canada and Prosper", Wednesday November 19, 2014, 6:30-9:00 pm

The APEGBC Vancouver Branch, in collaboration with the Division for the Advancement of Women in Engineering & Geoscience (DAWEG) and the Multi-Lingual Orientation Service Association for Immigrant Communities (MOSAIC), organized a seminar to discuss issues that are important to the international engineers and geoscientists of BC. The main objective of the seminar was to help engineers and geoscientists transition into the Canadian job market and to further advance within the field of engineering and geoscience.

A panel discussion was held with guest panelists who have excelled in their career and have experience working in different organizations. The discussions included:

• How can internationally trained engineers and geoscientists land jobs in Canada?
• What do employers look for when hiring internationally trained engineers and/or geoscientists?
• How can immigrated internationally trained engineers and geoscientists be registered with APEGBC?
• How can internationally trained engineers and geoscientists prosper in their jobs?
